Our services
Three specialisms, assessed and matched to each child.
Delivered one-to-one, in small groups, or remotely — built around the challenges a child is actually experiencing.
Early Intervention
The first three years of a child's life are crucial to their overall development. Although every child is unique, it is generally expected that they reach certain milestones in speech, cognitive function and mobility during this time.
Early Intervention provides support for children under the age of three who are at risk of poor outcomes due to diagnosed or undiagnosed disabilities or developmental disorders. It is family-centred, and based on the strengths, concerns and priorities identified by the family. Identifying any issues at the earliest opportunity gives us the best chance of helping your child — and minimises the need for further intervention later.
How a child benefits
- Improves developmental growth for children with additional needs
- Encourages independence
- Reduces the need for intervention in future
- Helps families understand the child's needs and advocacy
- Supports adaptations for family activities and routines
- Can be delivered in multiple formats
Educational Therapy
A school environment is designed to give children the skills they need to learn, grow and thrive into adulthood. When something gets in the way, an Educational Therapist works to find out why.
We begin by ascertaining why the child is having a difficult time learning, then build the most appropriate plan of action around their specific needs. An Educational Therapist combines education and therapy: the aim is to gain skills that help eradicate unhelpful habits or traits preventing a child from reaching their goals. Unlike a tutor — who typically specialises in subject matter — a therapist works with how a child's brain processes information.
How a child benefits
- Individual attention beyond what a classroom allows
- Quicker access to the right support
- A better understanding of personal strengths and self-advocacy
- Improved collaboration among educators and caregivers
- Potential reduction in future support needs
- Available in multiple delivery formats
Handwriting Intervention
Handwriting is a skill a child needs throughout life, so writing clearly and with confidence matters. Some children struggle because of low core strength, limited fine finger movement, or a general learning impairment.
As HWT-certified Handwriting Specialists we identify why a child is struggling — whether legibility, neatness, comfort, pencil grip, pressure, speed or a lack of enjoyment. Depending on the cause there are many techniques we can use, such as a weighted pencil grip, which can be very effective for children on the spectrum. A Level 1 Certified Handwriting Without Tears specialist can formally assess a child's printing and create an individualised remediation plan.
How a child benefits
- Enhances visual motor integration and visual perception
- Encourages writing independence and a mature pencil grip
- Improves fine motor planning and coordination
- Increases core stability and postural control
- Builds finger strength, eye–hand coordination and grip
- Supports letter recognition and emerging literacy
